A 10yr VISION FOR THE PUBLIC SPACE IN SCARBOROUGH

The vision for Scarbourough's public space is to create a quality network of spaces that will not only reconnect different neighbourhoods and areas in the town but also reconnect the town with its beautiful hinterland and sea.

The bonding of the town will occur via the valley systems, via leafy green boulevards in place of grey streets via a Marine Drive worthy of the name and via a dramatic entry to Scarborough that will be regained from the prominence of commercial development.

Protection of the town from the sea through cliff stabilisation and development of under-utilised space by a Linear Park will introduce a quality approach where design, engineering and maintenance are spoken about in the same sentence.
The investment in a selection of streets, boulevards, parks and forests together with a maintenance strategy will provide an attractive spatial framework for the development of the town for at least the next 50 years.
However, at the very heart of the matter is the premise that a vibrant town needs a vibrant and attractive centre.
