PHASE 1 STRATEGIC ACTION PLAN FOR THE TOWN CENTRE

The first phase master plan identifies a strategic parcel of works to be implemented around the Street Project.
The new Street carpet will link the station to the Crescent to the Valley, across St. Nicholas Cliff along Eastborough to the Snickets and Sandside. It will provide a secondary foreshore and a deeper public space network.
The Street Project will link the Station Square, the new heart of Market Square, the Event Space of Sandside, The Valley and the Promenade.
The Cultural Route through the valley gardens will act as the new spine around a rationalisation of the parks circulation and vegetation. Bringing a maintained base back into the gardens will provide supervision and works to the aquarium top car park and roundabout will link the valley to the sea.
Blooming Belvederes will be the focus for a larger Scarborough Flower Festival and a foreground of picturesque colour.
Stage one works to the station zone will repave the area with an emphasis on the priority of the pedestrian and a better connectivity with Stephen Joseph Theatre and Westborough.

Private development partnerships at Quay Street and Sandgate Square will provide a fine grain of public space squares and show why it is worth investing in a revitalised Scarborough.
