This £3.75 million project was to reburbish the Spa Complex.
Phase One :
This £1.7 million phase is to refurbish the Grand Hall by installing new conference and entertainment facilities to assist in attracting new business into the venue and re-establish its importance in the events and conference arena. A major refurbishment of the roof was undertaken.
Phase Two :
The second phase saw the installation of state of the art technical equipment in the Theatre, Ocean Room & Promenade Lounge.
Phase Three :
The remedial works to the main foyer has now been completed.

The Grand Hall and bar will close between January and December next year to allow multi-million-pound renovation work to be carried out.
SBC planned £10m worth of work on the venue but an application for £4m million from the 'Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment' was rejected.
Consequently there will be a downscaling of the plans which originally included an upgrade of the approach road to the Spa, renovation of the Aquarium Top car park, a new reception area, new stage at the Spa Grand Hall and the installation of a retractable roof at the Sun Court.
